Can you tell me what happened to the blossom
The (C) blackberry (G) blossom when (D) summertime came?
The (G) blackberry blossom the (C) last time (G) I saw one
Was (C) down in the (G) bramble where (D) I rambled in(G) the spring
The (Em) bramble was wild, I was torn by the briers
My (Bm) love, he wooed me as I lie there
With a (Em) flower in my hair and my cheeks aflush
It was a (C) blackberry (G) blossom from the blackberry (D) bush (G)

(G) When I picked the berry I didn't (C) miss the blossom(G)
The (C) blackberry (G) blossom (D) was white as the snow
But the (G) berry that it brings (C) is sweeter than (G) molasses
And (C) black as the (G) wings of an (D) Arkansas (G) crow
The (Em) Arkansas crow is a devil and a demon
(Bm) Known for his cackling and his screaming
(Em) Driving away the swallow and the thrush
From the (C) blackberry (G) blossom and (D) the blackberry (G) bush

(G) I was picking berries when that (C) crow flew (G) above me
(C) Carrying my (G) lover's soul (D) far away
Now (G) each spring I lay (C) a blackberry (G) blossom
By a (C) cold (G) gravestone on (D) the Arkansas (G) clay
The (Em) Arkansas clay is rocky and hard
With (Bm) weeds grown over in the old graveyard
And the (Em) day settles down to an evening hush
Over the (C) blackberry (G) blossom and (D) the blackberry (G) bush
