                             "E-TOWN - THE RADIO SHOW

E-Town is more than music alone. It's a unique variety show that combines
live music with conversation about our environment and our communities.
From James Taylor to Jimmy Carter, Ralph Nader to Ralph Stanley, E-Town's
guests help remind us that our collective hometown is a little bigger than
we might have thought. Produced on stage before a live audience and
broadcast weekly throughout the United States, E-Town is now in its
    seventh season.

When we began work on this compilation, we, for the first time, really
took a look at the body of recorded music that we'd gathered over the
years. Not only was it a joy to go back and listen to so much great music,
it was a reminder of the fact that E-Town is built on the support and
cooperation of musicians. Their willingness to fit us into their schedules
when we were brand new, their desire to come back as we grew, and their
support of this project all speak to that community thing, the family of
friends who have grown up together and live what E-Town aims for. It is to
them that we owe our thanks.
                                      Nick and Helen Forster

"What a way to celebrate! We're moving into our sixth year of the World
Cafe and just in time comes our best collection yet of Live at the World
Cafe. Volume 5 is in your hands and it captures some of the best moments
in our history, some even going back to our first year. This volume rocks
with Southern Culture on the Skids and Los Lobos. It has three of the
finest new Singer Songwriters to emerge in the 90's in Paula Cole, Patty
Griffin and Dar Williams. We even have a rare live acoustic recording of
Patti Smith performing "Dancing Barefoot." The World Cafe is always moving
forward with respect for our roots. You'll find all that on this CD.
Enjoy! Live at the World Cafe Volume 5, it's a pleasure. David Dye"
