About Willywear

Willywear is a line of affordable art with a story full of artistic vision, creative collaboration, mutual adoration and...wild paint splatters.

Way back in the early days of this century, Michelle and David first collaborated on design for the launch of Michelle’s record label, Mighty Sound (2001) and the artwork for her album, Deep Natural (2002). In 2003 their partnership took an amorous turn, adding romance to their creativity.

Combining Michelle’s musical talents with David’s penchant for painting, the two conspired and conceived the idea for a series of portraits on canvas and in song of “Indelible Women.” They also worked together on packaging for the reissues of Michelle’s albums, Texas Campfire Takes, Short Sharp Shocked and Arkansas Traveler, as well as the designs for Threesome (Don't Ask Don't Tell, Mexican Standoff and Got No Strings (2005)), ToHeavenURide (2007) and Soul of My Soul (2009).

David's painting style involves a technique that disperses streams of paint from the brush onto his canvas, and in most cases, onto his clothing. After receiving a great many compliments on his paint-splattered attire and being besieged with requests for him to splatter his paint on other people’s garments, he decided to create a line of his own.

Willywear was born and now people can wear one of a kind, hand painted (splattered and signed) clothing while sharing the dynamic expressive action of David’s work. Willywear offers a full line of clothing and accessories that can be customized with up to four lines of handwritten lyrics from any of Michelle’s songs for a nominal fee.

We highly recommend the splattered guitar case...it’s a big hit at airports, garnering non-stop compliments from flight attendants and security guards alike.

Enjoy your purchase!
